OMG! Only 5 weeks left!

Adidas King of The Road (KOTR) is held on 10th August 2008. Like other races, I have thought of joining the 10K category in this event, even though this race is not targeted on beginners. The qualifying time for Women Open 10K category is 1 hour, I am still not able to meet that yet. I am aiming to run my first half marathon in Singapore International Marathon (SIM) on 7th December 2008.

However, after reading so many Singapore Sundown Marathon race reports from fellow runners, I really feel like running a marathon! Haza the Running Mom and WaiSum who are already successful marathoners advised me to take the 22.7K category in Adidas KOTR to evaluate myself, and then consider taking the full marathon challenge in SIM. After some thoughts, I decide to go with this plan.

So far I have only done 19K LSD of Hartamas route once on 15th June 2008 (I didn't do the extra 1KM loop at Petronas to make it 20K), I suffered deeply on the way back. In the last few km, I was not even manage to swing my arms while running.

I thought I had plenty of time to train, but AV came the next week with very heavy flow, so I skipped the LSD training. Then it followed by McD Run in next Sunday which I could not skip, because I was acting like the "organizer" to bring in my fellow colleagues to participate, hopefully to promote the running atmosphere and healthy living among them.

Tomorrow is the Siemen 10K Run. I have signed up and collected the bib as well. However, when I calculate how many Sundays left to train LSD before KOTR:

13th July 2008
20th July 2008 (high AV possibility & primary weekend support)
27th July 2008
3rd August 2008

Wow... only 4 Sundays left and I may not be able to make one of them. If it rains, I will miss another important training. 22.7K is even longer than half marathon (21K), I really have no confidence at all with the current training and weekly mileage. I am not aiming to meet the qualifying time of 2hrs 20min, I just hope to complete it within 3hrs and hopefully the Organizer hasn't packed and gone home when I return to the finishing point.

So I decide to skip the Siemen Run tomorrow and do 20K LSD instead. Another thing is there are only 100 medals for Women Open category. It seems like Siemen Run is the only race in Klang Valley, so I believe many elite runners will participate in this event and I will have no chance of grabbing a medal.... hehehe, I am quite medalistic...
